City Palace Museum

Established in 1959, the City Palace Museum stands as one of India’s notable palace museums, preserving the legacy of the royal household within the heart of Jaipur. The museum occupies a section of the larger City Palace complex, where courtyards, gateways, and halls reflect a refined blend of Rajput, Mughal, and European architectural influences. Its galleries present a carefully curated narrative of royal life, offering visitors an intimate glimpse into the traditions, aesthetics, and ceremonial practices that shaped the region.
The collections housed within the museum were assembled over generations by the Kachwaha Rajputs, rulers of Amber and Jaipur. From elaborate textiles and royal garments to arms, manuscripts, and decorative arts, each piece reflects the cultural depth and artistic patronage of the dynasty. Together, these objects illustrate not only the grandeur of the court but also the enduring cultural identity of Rajasthan, making the museum a meaningful window into the region’s historical and traditional roots.
