Albert Hall Museum

The Albert Hall Museum stands in Jaipur as the oldest museum in the state and one of the city’s most distinguished cultural landmarks. Set within the landscaped grounds of Ram Niwas Garden, the building itself is a striking example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, blending classical European design with Indian decorative elements. Its construction began during the reign of Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II and was completed under Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II, following the visit of Albert Edward, after whom the museum is named.
Inside, the museum houses a rich and varied collection that reflects the artistic and cultural heritage of Rajasthan and beyond. Exhibits include miniature paintings, textiles, carpets, metalwork, and sculptures, alongside curiosities such as an Egyptian mummy, which adds an unexpected global dimension to the collection. Carefully curated galleries present a glimpse into royal life, craftsmanship, and historical traditions, making the museum both educational and visually engaging. Beyond its collections, the building itself remains a highlight, particularly when illuminated in the evening, offering a memorable blend of history, art, and architectural elegance.
